Hey there, I know you said you've been before to Hawaii...I took "just the girls" in 2007 to Kauai on the north shore to the Princeville Ranch on a 3 hr. ride, hike, swim, waterfall, picnic ride that was pretty good. It's child's play for you I know but they have other rides as well. I would do the "Private 3-hr. ride or the cattle drive next time. Here's the link: princevilleranch.com. We enjoyed it but were with people from NYC that whined the whole time!! Private is the way to go!!! The picnic was a little lame too so I would ask for details on the food!! The horses were calm, however, I would make sure you tell them exactly what you want...that's what I did and I got it! The NYC people's mount spooked with them....and my daughter's horse was a little cranky but she handled him well....even the trail head said so. The horses seemed in good health and I know that they have Julie Goodnight clinics there. I haven't been on too many rides on vacation just this one and one in Alaska. Have fun!!
Wow. I had no idea there were that many horse rental companies in Hawaii! Much more fun that jeep riding, eh? When are you leaving?? Lucky you! My hubby and I had plans to visit Hawaii 13 years ago. We had paid deposits and made a full intinerary, but then I found out I was pregnant with my twins and my Dr. said it was too risky to fly in all the commuter planes we had planned to travel in. Bummer. Hopefully one day! Make sure you share your experiences in Hawaii when you get back, ok?
How cool is that going to be!!! We have friends that live in Hawaii, and they have been tellingus for YEARS to come over and visit and we haven't yet. I know that sounds crazy....
The Desert Rose grew up loving horses and riding with her cousins although she never owned a horse of her own. At 35 her loving husband fullfilled her childhood dream of joining up with her fist horse, Major Special, barn name George. A Major Bonannza Son,George graced our lives for almost 9 years. Not ready to replace George but needing transition time, a little neglected, skinny, 2year old gelding named Jesse was leased. The Desert Rose told this baby not to call her mom....because he was not going to be the "one" to fill up the jagged hole George's death left in her heart. However this baby was a an old soul and it was not long before the greeting of a nicker...that grew to a loud whinny broke his way in to her broken heart. You join them 6 years later as they scout for new trails to blaze!
