I did purchase a lovely set of Hand braided reins a few years ago at "Cowboy Xmas" that I use for my Desert Riding group rides or any other special event. I thought I would faint the first time I used them...what if they got dirty...or sweaty??? Now I don't even think about what will happen to them, cause when they are in my hands they feel like butter!
When my Loving Husband and I were in Hawaii I had a day of "Cowgirl Shopping". At one of my favorite stores on Maui...
These are braided horse hair in a diamond pattern. The colors are really red and turquoise...I was not able to capture the true colors. They are split reins...but when I get to the desert I will call my "saddle guy" and see if he can come up with a way for my reins to be joined without tying them in a knot! He's good at these kinds of things.
Jesse will be so excited to wear his new bling!!!
Your Desert Rose!
I love those reins... I think that store looks so cool. I google'd them, and they have the coolest clothes too!
ReplyDeleteYes, they are really beautiful! Jesse will love them.
ReplyDeleteThose are awesome reins and quite fitting for the riding you do. They reins will certainly compliment Jesse's color!
ReplyDeleteVery cool!! I am sure your saddle guy can do something to them, without a knot of course!
ReplyDeleteThose are gorgeous. I've never seen any like that.
ReplyDeleteActually that is hitched horse hair. I hitch occasionally but I am more into braiding.
ReplyDeleteYou know how you can get square flat keepers for bridles and stuff? Well you need one for your reins, Put it on one rein and put it over the horses neck and then slide the other into the keeper so they form an X The only way I will ride with split reins.
Haha! Aloha Cowgirl! I love it!!! Nice reins too. I always think of you as the Cowgirl Fashionista! Wish I had your style :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Jessee will love his new tack, but not as much as he will love having his Desert Rose back!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, gorgeous! You have the absolute coolest stuff for you and your pony!!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteThose reins are nice! Love the colors!
ReplyDeleteLucky you..and lucky Jessie, too, of course. YOu two are going to be stylin' with those fancy reins!
ReplyDeleteMaybe you can do a post about all the different reins you use and like or dislike with pictures of course. Sounds like you have a lot of experience and some great opinions to share for us who've not been riding all that long or have had the opportunity to try out many different types of tack.
