Poor little Jesse has now progressed to being pony'd out in the wash. Here he is on his way out with his role model...SLICK, and The Bossman!Hay MOM...what cha doing???The bad news is...The Shoesalesman and the Bossman seem to talk daily about Jesse and his owie toes and they do not want Jesse to do anything else until he gets his next pair of new shoes!!! That will mean 8 weeks ( 6 now) before we ride Jesse...yikes!
I guess that is what I deserve for getting my horse into a VERY BAD situation!
Your Desert Rose!
I know the feeling. Maduro has been out of commission since the trainers but he's coming along nicely. Sand bruising his frogs was the culprit we think. He's slowly improving and still has his shoes on. We've got two horses still in shoes (fronts only). Romeo has a baby shoe (so cute) on his grade 1 club front. Glory is also improving with this new farrier. I did a post on her fiasco with the last one. We can only live and learn, our horses are SO forgiving of us when we make mistakes that they pay for.
ReplyDeleteJesse seems like a perfect candidate for easy walker horseshoes. If you search my blog you can see Indigo with her shoes on. It made a big difference with her summer owwie toes from too much riding.
ReplyDeleteDon't be so hard on yourself. You didn't end up lost on purpose (Does anyone?) and you weren't being careless either. Just consider it a little vacation for the Jesse man. Just a great time to love on him and give him lots of treats and carrots. :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd you've got Little Lady to ride so you can still hit the trails.

ps You left me a comment today that makes me think you must have missed reading one of my most important posts. You said: "If you get a new horse, will you keep Baby Doll???"
I sold Baby Doll almost a month ago, my friend.
Here's the post:

Perfect timing, I've been meaning to ask you how Jesse's been doing. Has he completely recovered from his tie-up also? Good thing we've got a Bella-Ella for you to ride this month!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Jesse deserves the vacation, but I bet he doesn't want to be left behind.
ReplyDeletepoor jesse ! I did that to a mare of mine , I rode her on a trail ride barefoot because I was told she never needed shoes and had rock hard feet.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Not so much!
HL and i got the cutest card from Jesse and some cute redhead with whom he hangs out. What great photos! Thanks a $1,000,000!
ReplyDeleteIt is not your fault!! Getting lost is not an intention -- it is an accident. I am glad to hear he is going to be OK...now, give yourself a break!
ReplyDeleteMy dear cousin...Please don't beat yourself up anymore! I know you have taken quite the ribbing for everything that happened, but you and Bossman did EVERYTHING you could to keep us ALL safe under the cirumstances. I don't feel for one moment that you PUT us in that predicament carelessly!! I am the one feeling horrible about Jesse's feet, I was riding him! I'm really sad to hear he is STILL out of commission...:-( PLEASE give him hugs for me, I'll see you soon!
ReplyDeleteJesse rest those toes and get better soon
ReplyDeletePoor Jesse, those toes will just not stay healed. He needs to more to the beach Mom! No rocks!
ReplyDeleteI can't recall exactly, did he get sore from that ride on just that hoof that the shoe came off on? Or is this related to his previous quarter crack issues (although I thought his hooves were good now?)
ReplyDeletePoor guy! I hope he feels better soon! Poor pony! He will still get spoiled and the best of walking and care, I know! :)
I loved the card you sent!
Poor Jesse. I am sure he is getting all that specila attention from the bossman. And mom is probably giving him extra treats!!!

ReplyDeleteCousin, could you also change the font color that your comments come in? They are really hard to read... thanks so much, these old eyes are really struggling on this dark background.
