There's a New Cowgirl in Town!

She has ridden into my town and would be more than happy to ride into your town!
She rides with her hat a blow'en in the wind beneath her favorite well worn hat! She has ridden through snow... And over mounatins! She's not afraid to get dusty... and she cleans up real purdy! She has the taste for the finer things in her cowgirl life... and she could be yours!

I know you will appreciate caressing her silky pages, hearing her stories and learning from her wisdom. She will entice you to live in her world of adventure and you will wait for her return to you eagerly on her next journey. This 2nd issue will be gifted to 3 cowgirls who say why they should be the lucky one to find her in their mailbox! Just comment on this post by Feb 28th! Drawing of course will be from my cowgirl hat!!!

If by chance you are not one lucky cowgirl...you can get your own by going to...

I have never written to a magazine before but when I finished my first issue I sent an email of thanks to the editor. You can read it here! Your Desert Rose!

  3. Hmmm...why me? Well, I've overcome great obstacles, pain and frustration just to climb back into the saddle. I've ridden over mountains and through snow. I don't mind getting dusty and I've been known to clean up purdy if there's an opportunity to enjoy the finer things in life.

Of course, for me, the finer things in life involve horses!

    Getty yup!

  6. Well, well, well. All I can say is I'm the only person (man or woman!) who has ridden the OUTLAW Crow without getting a bone broken or even getting thrown! Also, I tamed the wild beast Maria, and turned into a puppy-dog of a pony!

Love this. The mag looks fabulous, the articles beautiful! Congrats on having your letter published; it was very well written and so true!

  7. Star and I would love Cowgirl to read before bedtime, while she is munching hay and I am in my PJ's. We could savor stories and dream about trail rides and playing with out mare frens.

  8. Cowgirl magazine would have a place of honor in our home and would be surrounded by many many issues of Western Horseman. I think equal time is called for here don't you?

  9. You've been published! How cool Auntie! I bet you are so excited. This looks like a fun magazine, hopefully it will stay around for a while since you enjoyed it so much. I hope you're having a great weekend, it's actually been nice here, sunny and near 60, but so cold at night. The rain is expected back in a couple of days. It never stays away too long! Love you!

  10. Gosh, That's so exciting that your thank you was published, and nicely written girl! You spoke for all of us so well! Now, I think, I should find this in my mailbox due to all the pain, suffering and tramatic experiences I have suffered at the hands of more "experienced horsemen" this year! I need this magazine to crawl into bed with (along with my nightcap) to learn about riding, and cowgirl ways and experiences. And I have been working SOOO hard getting lessons, to improve my skills that I have no money left to buy nice magazines like this....Yep, that should do it....Pick me! Pick me!

  11. That is very cool that your email was published! I once had a letter published in the Appaloosa Journal - I was about 13 and I wrote about my Appy progression - from 40 year old "Babe" to my new 5 year old "Breezie." Quite an honor!

  12. That is awesome! Well said DR! Looks like a wonderful tribute to cowgirls all over the country! I would love to read this one! I could revert back to my younger cowgirl dreaming days (used to pretend I was Annie Oakley on my Appy....sometimes I was an Indian girl too riding bareback)lol! Actually, I have never read a "real cowgirl" magazine before!? We only have the Western Horseman or Cowboys & Indians in our stores around here....just standard fare. This would be a real treat! We're not in a horsey area and a lot of the ones around here are Western Pleasure show horses.

  13. I would love to have a copy of this magazine to read while I'm taking a bubble bath after mucking a stall or 2 and working with my little filly! Add my name to the hat please!

  14. I would also love it. I always feel in another life I was an old time cowgirl, something about those gals and the west stirs something deep inside me, hard to explain, I respect them, love them, want to be one......

  15. Why me? Because I'm middle-aged, inept and clueless and need all the encouragement I can get.

  16. Wow -- a Cowgirl magazine!! How neat!! Well, am I deserving? I don't know...I started riding late in life (in my 40's), overcame a practically paralyzing fear of horses, and am one of the few (I believe) who ride year-round -- even during snowstorms and low temperatures. I nursed my horse thru glaucoma, give all my own vaccines...does any of that count? I love my horse.....
