Oh What a Night! ( Finale)

Dear Readers,
In honor of the one year anniversary if our "unscheduled overnight on the PCT" I will be re posting the story one segment each day for the next week. If you read about our adventure last year...please feel free to skip it. If you have NOT heard our story before...you might want to take notes...cause we never thought it could happen to us either ;)

The adventure of a lifetime is over for "The 3 Amigos" ! We have seen each other at our worst and best. It is the best that I want to focus on now.
It has been 2 weeks since our "unscheduled overnight mountain stay" and I have finally stopped getting teary when I think about almost, possibly, could have, knock on wood, killed my horse and favorite cousin! ( not in order of importance) The Bossman is too ornery to die on one of out rides!!!

In no order at all...

I want to honor Bronco Betsy or Baby Doll as she is now known in some circles! ( Better than "She who rides many ponies!) This PONY COUSIN has been joining me in the desert now for the last several years as a temporary "snowbird". She started out riding stable rentals...and was so excited her 2nd season when Spanky upgraded her to ride Banjo! Banjo is Tennessee Walker who is not a beginner horse...Bronco got to ride him again this year after Jesse had his owe toes!Bronco and Banjo on our last ride together...notice the Pendleton Saddle pad and halter and lead, This is not "stable" issue!!! Has Baby Doll become the Bossman's favorite PONY COUSIN???

To Baby Doll...I know we scared the "chalupa" out of you more than once on our adventure! What I want you to know... is this: You just experienced one of the most frightening experiences that will EVER happen to you!!! And you did it, YOU cowgirled up when you needed to and did what you had to do! Unless someone rides exactly what you did, they will never know what the terrain we had to ride was. The Bossman and I know...and are proud to award to you...Baby Doll
The Desert Rose, Red Badge of Courage Award! You have earned this award for going above and beyond the call of "cowgirl duty"!

To The Bossman! Always ready to stand up and fight for a PONY COUSIN, especially the Desert Rose in time of need! For ALWAYS being a gentleman and never asking for a "blow job" no matter howfuckingcold you were!!!
To Jesse... I could not have said it better than Cowgirljlynn at A Cowgirlsgrace who dedicated Jesse this special award to Jesse!
And finally last but not least...I dedicate this award to Baby Doll and The Bossman! Alas, this PONY COUSIN has stolen the Bossman's heart away from The Desert Rose during our "unscheduled overnight mountain stay" Although I was somewhat involved in getting him his 1st "blow job" on a trail ride...I was not DIRECTLY the one who gave it to him. As Baby Doll stated in her blog...she is pretty sure she is now The Bossman's favorite PONY COUSIN!!!

I also want to thank...Slick the "Drunken Stallion" and "Little Lady" ( Pretty Girl)(soon to be "My Girl"...yes stolen from "PONY GIRL") who amazed me at their dedication and perseverance in getting us all home safely!!!
You Desert Rose!

Miss Tequila Rose!!!

You have seen pictures of Miss Tequila Rose before in a post or two...hasn't she grown up? She has become so well trained...she can even ride a horse...with her Dad The Tattooed Cowboy! One day not too long ago Tequila Rose wandered by my tack room. I called out to her and she stopped and peeked inside! What would entice this girl to come and visit me??? Am I so much fun that she wanted to come and play??? Am I so witty that she just wanted to chat with me awhile???
Or...does she know that I am...THE COOKIE LADY!!!
Miss Tequila Rose took her cookies so gently from Auntie Rose (yes, her middle name is for me)... and poof...she was gone!

Jesse's Summer Friend!!!

Jesse has never spent a summer is the desert since he has been in in our family however he was born and raised nearby. Jesse is so fortunate to be a "snowbird" along with his family, until this year. Jesse's "bad feet" lead us to the decision of leaving him in the desert to be near the Shoesalesman for a full year. It will be a year and a half that he has been in the desert by the time he comes home next spring.
Because of the extreme heat in the desert most of the boarded horses are moved to high desert during the summer. That meant that both of Jesse's stall neighbors would be leaving. Because Jesse is a very "social guy" with horses and people, I asked The Bossman to see about getting a neighbor for Jesse this last summer. The Bossman did better than that...he arranged for "BIG" to be Jesse's neighbor!

This is "Big", checking out my rental car!

Jesse makes sure that "Big" is being a gentleman when he greets The Desert Rose!

But Jesse has taught him well..."Big" was a perfect gentleman as he accepted his "car treat" from the Desert Rose!

Some of you may remember "Big" from a previous post.

Jesse and "Big" are friends because Jesse ponies "Big"! See how BIG "Big" is???The Bossman says that Jesse and "Big" play so hard at times you would think that the rails between them are going to fall over! As long as Jesse has a good friend to play with, I am happy!

The "Teqiula Rose"!

A few days ago I stopped by the wrangler's house at the stables to say goodnight to them. They were all sitting around out on the "veranda" with a beer telling "tall tales" after a long 11 hour day of wrangling horses. As I chatted with them I started to notice that someone was trying to sneak into my purse!

The "Tequila Rose" is an approximately 7 month old Healer that belongs to The Tattooed Cowpoke! Notice that she is trying too get in the zippered compartment on my "fabulous" cow hide purse where I keep my quarters for the cuss jar! The Tattooed Cowpoke has been working hard with her training and she knows many fun tricks. She can play "bang bang...your dead" fetch, and now she's a pick pocket!

A picture of the Tattooed Cowpoke on an earlier trail ride with us this year! That is "Crow" real name "Dirty Chicken" who has broken a bone on EVERY wrangler that has been un-lucky enough to be assigned riding him. He is the stable owners #1 roping horse that does not seem to like the extra credit home work of guiding trails!

You may not be able to see this clearly but...yes that is my hand in her mouth! Auntie Desert Rose says..."Tequila Rose" do not bite the hand that will feed you cookies!
