We hade a pot luck earlier this year at our house. I make the entree and some else makes the salad and some one brings desert. Then we all bring a small appitizer to eat during the coctail hour. One of our friends...a doctor made and brought this to my party, and I was real impressed with his work!

And I gotta say he was quite proud ofit too!!

So You Have a Gelding???

I think that there is a mix of you out there...about half of you have geldings and the other half, mares. I just learned this year that mares can get a waxy build up around their nipples and they need to be checked from time to time to see that they are not waxed and inflamed. Lady is pretty good about grooming her teats...when she rolls in the arena...just before she gets up she uses her teeth around that area to groom. She probably does that because IF she didn't The Bossman would use the water hose and spray her teats. She must think if that's the Bossman's before play...she don't want no part of it!!!
Now...the other half with Geldings/Stallions there is another rather private area that needs to be checked and attended to from time to time. SHEATH CLEANING!!! Now most us us Cowgirls just add it to the vets list at the same time as the dental appointment ( Jesse for sure needs to have meds for this or he will COW KICK YOU!!!) He always has a bean of wax (or 2) and has a very nasty sheath even though it's done 2x a year. The vet said it can't be done more often than that or it actually gets worse. There is no nastier job that a Cowgirl would choose to do!!!

So imagine my surprise at a PONY COUSIN gathering when I glanced over to see this!I just had to ask my PONY COUSIN what she was doing???My PONY COUSIN just smiled sweetly!!!

Cowboy Blowout!!!

I think that we all believe, that if we Cowgirls had a flat tire along the side of the road a Cowboy would surely come along and change the tire for us! Ok...so maybe it's a fantasy!

But I have to ask you what does a Cowgirl do when a Cowboy has a blow out??? Pretend you don't see it and try hard not to stare at his crotch??? Offer to patch the blow out??? Get him back on his horse QUICKLY???

A Cowgirl Wedding!

This last spring, my loving husband and I were invited to attend the wedding of the Cowpoke, aka Cowboy H from Holman Ranch! Mama H was the bride! I posted about them practicing their dance for their wedding the day we got "winded out" from our ride!!!

So with as little as possible narration...here is the most wonderful "Cowgirl Wedding" any of you could imagine!!!

I have decided to start with the reception first...you know build up the suspense before the climax! My loving husband and I arrived at the venue and could not believe how absoulutely "Cowgirl Elegant" it was! I will post several pictures of the "Barn" set for the reception!

The grub was delicious, Mama H's mama made some of it!

I will only tell you that the groom...has "ring issues"! I would have put it through his nose if it had been me!
Mama H did what we all would do "IF" we had it to do all over again!!!

The Desert Rose Buckle!!!

When my Loving Husband and I were in Hawaii he said he wanted to buy me something "nice". Now...my Loving Husband just loves to buy me jewelry and since our hotel had several jewelry stores inside of it, we stopped to browse several times at all the lovely jewels they had to offer. And as tempting as some items were...I just couldn't settle on what it was that I may want. Part of the reason I am sure is that I already have beautiful jewelry he has given me and don't seem to wear it all enough. I tend to wear the same things over and over. Also my lifestyle has changed over the years and I don't attend the same kinds of events that I used to.


However...I do still enjoy new "Cowgirl Bling" and have indulged in some very unique items over the last few years. But there was still one elusive item that I have coveted now for a few years. While on my "Cowgirl" shopping trip in Hawaii...I saw exactly what I had been coveting.

I decided to let my Loving Husband buy it for me...and he was happy that I was so excited to finally be the proud owner of...The Desert Rose Buckle!

Several of my blogger friends have told me about this buckle, knowing I think that someday I could call it my own!

Cowboy Bling!!!

Hay...you all know that I am a cowgirl that loves BLING!!! However...my loving husband is a "Reluctant Cowboy" to say the least! On one of my recent cowgirl shopping trips, I picked up this wonderful bolero for my loving husband to wear at those cowgirl events he reluctantly goes to with me!!! Yes... I am being sneaky at putting together his "outfit" for the "Cowgirl Ball"! We are the defending champions for best dressed couple...I was best dressed cowgirl 3 years running and then they changed the category's to best dressed couple!!! That means I need someones corporation to win the BIG RIBBON!!! I will keep working on HIS wardrobe!!!

Desert Cowpoke Ropes Cameron!!!

So this is a great story!!!

Over the years when ever a "photo shoot" with a celeb was scheduled for the desert and a horse/cowboy was needed, my stables was called to full fill the duties! In the past this awful duty fell upon the Cowpoke AKA Cowboy H to pretend he was the Cowboy rescuing the damsel in distress. After the Cowpoke left the stables this terrible job fell upon The Texas Ranger. In a recent fashion issue...which I forget the name of, this picture was one of the photos that went to the cutting floor. However it is really GREAT and The Texas Ranger looks soooooo handsome!

But watch out Cameron...The Texas Ranger has already been roped by The Yellow Rose of Texas!

Another one Bites the Dust!!!

This past weekend my Loving Husband and I attended the wedding of The Cowpoke aka Cowboy H to The Evil Long Legged Cowgirl aka.Mama H in a small town near San Louis Obispo CA. It was a wonderful loving event and right up this Cowgirls alley! The reception was held in an old recovered barn that has been fixed up fancy for doing's such as these. I promised The Evil Long Legged Cowgirl aka Mama H & now aka Mrs. Cowpoke that I would not post any pictures of the wedding until SHE did.

However...that promise will only hold me back for so long because I am chomping at the bit to post about this breath taking experience I had seeing the 2 of them so happy!

Clinical Trial, Cowgirls Needed!!!

This is a clinical trial:

So let's say the cowboy is just ugly...and he does buy you another drink. Does he become more handsome or less ugly??? Or if he's really ugly and he buys you a drink...is he now just ugly? And if he bought you a 3rd drink would he now be really handsome and hardly ugly???

About the only way you can really answer this I think after 3 drinks!!! That is assuming you only had one to start with. You may start your research at any time I will even provide the ugly cowboy that will be used in this trial.

So you cowgirls know the routine...you have all seen "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly"

You must use THE UGLY in your clinical research...using the strikingly handsome GOOD GUY or the suave and darkly handsome BAD GUY would only give the research false results! I trust that all you cowgirls will tell me truly if after your 3 drinks you still think the "THE UGLY GUY" is STILL UGLY!!!

There were 2 correct guesses and one admitted cheater who answered right! So as I see it I will put the 2 correct guesses and the cheater in the hat for the drawing. However the cheater will one get her name in the hat once and the non cheaters will get their name in the hat 10 times each. The odds are stacked against the cheater!

The Desert Rose is Rounding up a Posse!!!

Some of you may have noticed Jesse's Limo "King Ranch Tough" on my side bar and all of the PONY COUSINS know that I drive a Ford Expedition, King Ranch series! The "KING RANCH" is one of my fav catalogs, and they have a great web site too. They make all kinds of "King Ranch" logo merchandise and one of the things I bought was a running W brand hitch cover which is the KING RANCH brand!

The other day... I notice that it was GONE from the back of my truck!!! The Hitch pin was still there but no running W Brand Hitch cover!!!
So...The Desert Rose is rounding up a posse to go get those bandits that stole my "King Ranch" hitch cover!

The qualifications required are listed below!

1. Must have own mount...or borrowed horse meeting exceptional trail horse standards.
2. Must be ready to trot and lope at a moments notice.
3. Must have own saddle and cantle bags for saddle.
4. Must be able to drink "lemonade" when water is not available.

5. Must be able to eat hot dogs on the run and baked beans from a can.

6. Must be able to be without a cowboys arms around her for days at a time.

7. Must not be afraid to use her spurs.

8. Must be ready to kick her horse like he was her husband not her boyfriend.

9. Must be "dressed to kill".

10. Must be able to to "cowgirlthe fuckup" (25 cents in the cuss jar) at a moments notice.
